This availability will include a combination of maintenance, modernization and repair of USS Wasp.

Northrop Grumman grabs $4.8B DoD contract for Global Hawk drone 

Northrop Grumman (NYSE:NOC) is awarded a $4.8B contract to develop, modernize, retrofit and sustain variants of the U.S. Air Force’s Global Hawk drone fleet, the Department of Defense reports.The work will be performed in San Diego, Calif., and is expected to be completed by September 2030, the Pentagon says.

Northrop Grumman secures $185.7M Air Force contract 

Northrop Grumman (NYSE:NOC) has been awarded a $185.7M IDIQ contract for the A-10 Aircraft Structural Integrity Program Legacy VII.The contract provides for sustaining engineering services of A-10 aircraft.Work to be performed in Clearfield, Utah, and is expected to be completed by November, 2030.

Raytheon Technologies to acquire Blue Canyon Technologies

Raytheon Technologies (NYSE:RTX) inks agreement to acquire privately held Blue Canyon Technologies (BCT), a provider of small satellites and spacecraft systems components.BCT will report into Raytheon Intelligence & Space, a business of Raytheon Technologies.Acquisition will allow BCT to quickly scale production and pursue larger, more complex space missions.BCT will continue to serve its customer base under the current business name and brand from their Boulder and Lafayette, Colorado facilities.Financial terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.

Boeing secures $9.8B Air Force contract for F-15 support

Boeing’s (NYSE:BA) Defense, Space & Security division has been awarded a $9.8B IDIQ contract for F-15 support for Saudi Arabia. This contract provides for modernization and sustainment of the F-15 Saudi fleet; and installation of future modifications and enhancements to the F-15 Saudi weapon system as well as product support. Work will be performed in St. Louis and as separately specified in individual task and delivery orders and is expected to be completed by November 2025.This contract involves Foreign Military Sales to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and is the result of a sole-source acquisition.

SoftBank Is in Talks to Sell Robot Maker Boston Dynamics to Hyundai

SoftBank Group Corp. is in talks to sell robot maker Boston Dynamics Inc. to Hyundai Motor Co., people familiar with the matter said.Proposed terms of the deal would give the South Korean automaker control of the robotics company in a transaction valued at as much as $1 billion, said one of the people, all of whom asked not to be identified because the discussions are private. The terms have yet to be finalized, and the deal could fall apart, said the people.

And Apple is set to increase orders for VCSEL chips supporting the iPhone 12 Pro’s LiDAR scanner for immersive augmented reality (AR). The PC market has seen risk sales in the wake of the pandemic, but graphics card vendors may see shipments decline in fourth-quarter 2020, due partly to shortages of Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 30 series. And notebook components shortages continue to trouble Acer, whhich is able fufill only 30% of its orders.

Raytheon to shrink office space in push for ‘huge savings’ 

Raytheon Technologies Corp. is planning to shrink its office space even more than originally planned.The Waltham-based aerospace and defense company (NYSE: RTX), one of the largest employers in Massachusetts, reported earnings on Tuesday. CEO Gregory Hayes gave analysts an update on the previously announced plan to reduce $2 billion in costs this year and save $4 billion in cash as the pandemic crushes airline travel, which resulted in thousands of job cuts.
