Army Starts Construction On Prototype Lasers 

WASHNGTON: After years of lower-power field tests and more than one thousand hours of soldier feedback, the Army is on track to field-test two different types of high-energy lasers in 2022: a 50-kilowatt weapon to destroy enemy drones and incoming artillery rockets, and a 300-kW weapon that could potentially shoot down cruise missiles.

Raytheon to maintain DBR radar until EASR comes onboard

Raytheon delivers first SPY-6 radar array to U.S. Navy

Raytheon Technologies delivered the first AN/SPY-6(V)1 radar array for installation on the future USS Jack H. Lucas (DDG 125), the U.S. Navy’s first Flight III guided-missile destroyer. BAE to Integrate Hybrid Electric Drive Onto a Combat Vehicle 

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–BAE Systems has been awarded a $32 million prototype agreement by the U.S. Army’s Rapid Capabilities and Critical Technologies Office (RCCTO) to integrate a Hybrid Electric Drive (HED) system onto a Bradley Fighting Vehicle. The development program is part of the Army’s effort to increase vehicle efficiency and boost power generation to support integration of future technologies and greater mobility for combat vehicles on the battlefield.

Raytheon subsidiary receives $15M Defense contract 

The U.S. The Department of Defense announced a $15 million contract for Windsor Locks-based UTC Aerospace to make components for fighter jets. UTC Aerospace, which is formally called Hamilton Sundstrand Corp., will make gear boxes, hydraulic starter motors and other components for F-16 jets between 2020 and 2025, according to DOD.

Teledyne Brown Engineering will be expanding its Huntsville-based manufacturing and assembly facilities. The expansion is required to provide additional capabilities and capacity, as well as to anticipate future growth in the business. The 55,000-square-foot development consists of a 15,000-square-foot expansion of an existing building and a new standalone, 40,000-square-foot facility.
